Basis of work

In the ongoing zoo animal project I start with an early twentieth century set of glass slides showing animals in London Zoo*.

The images relocate animals from all over the world to cages in London.

The images have resonance with notions of dislocation, dependence and beauty.

From today’s perspective we can also trace the survival (or non-survival) of these species in our world over the last 100 years.

As well as displaying the slides I have developed art pieces deriving from reflections on the original images.

My artwork reflects a dialogue between discipline and creativity.
